St. Teresa’s, Loughmacrory enjoyed possibly one the school’s best ever challenges in the Cumann na mBunscoil competitions in 2016.

Having won county titles through Eoin McElholm (Boys Under 11 Singles), Gary McAleer & Eoin Donaghy (Boys Under 11 Doubles), Conor Fox & Ruairi McCullagh (Boys Under 13 Doubles), Dearbhail Fox (Girls Under 11 Singles) and Aoibhe Curran (Girls Under 13 Singles), the team then went on to win two of the eight provincial Cumann na mBunscoil titles on offer in Belfast last week.

St. Teresa’s Primary School have celebrated terrific success in GAA Handball in recent weeks with county, provincial and national successes.

On Saturday the school then made the journey to Kingscourt in County Cavan to contest two of the eight grades of the National Cumann na mBunscoil series.

Dearbhail Fox faced the winners of the other three provinces at Under 11 and had a fine win over Munster by 15-8, 15-2 and Connacht 15-5, 15-5. A 15-13, 15-8 defeat to Leinster saw Dearbhail finish runner-up in this series. In the Boys Under 11 Doubles, Eoin Donaghy and Gary McAleer defeated Connacht by 15-8, 15-6 before having draws with both Munster (13-15, 15-14) and Leinster (15-7, 14-15).

It was a great conclusion to what has been a big year again for Loughmacrory GAA Handball and the terrific progress being made in the St. Teresa’s Primary School has had a most significant bearing on all of this. With the added advantage of the new facilities now available the future looks very bright indeed.

Well done to all the young players involved, Master McCullagh on the continued great work being done in the school and to the Loughmacrory Club’s list of Juvenile coaches on the continued success across all levels of the game.
