All square in Tyrone GAA Under 16 Grade 1 Championship final

Loughmacrory went very close to securing an historic Under 16 Grade 1 football championship success on Sunday in Healy Park as they lead their strongly fancied Dromore opponents for much of the way in an end to end tussle.

However, in the end a few dubious refereeing decisions proved critical, albeit the team once again showed terrific composure and character and finished all square on the day on a 0-14 to 1-11 scoreline. The goal was delivered by Cathaoir Gallagher on 29 minutes, just before the half time break, and saw Loughmacrory go in with a 1-5 to 0-6 interval lead.

Arnoldac Macidulskas landed three points in a great all round display with Cathaoir Gallagher (1-3), Conall Grimes (0-2), Aodhan Donaghy (0-1), Shane Grimes (0-1) and Diarmaid Gallagher (0-1) all on target on the day. Overall though it was an excellent all-round team performance from Loughmacrory against a very talented and highly regarded young St. Dympna’s side, and they will now prepare for a Championship Final replay in two week’s time – full details TBC.
