As part of the build up to the 2015 National Féile na nGael, the GAA Presidents have been touring a number of the primary schools in the county promoting this competition.
Today, Tuesday 19th May, saw GAA Handball Ireland President, Willie Roche, welcomed to St. Teresa’s Primary School in Loughmacrory where the two All Ireland Féile Cups were on display from last year’s wins by the local club.
Looking ahead to the Féile, Willie Roche talked about the great tradition of GAA handball in the county and how important the event is.
“The Féile is one of the biggest festivals of youth sport in the world and it is fantastic for GAA clubs all over Ireland to come together and enjoy the three codes of hurling, camogie and handball all together over a weekend. GAA Handball look upon the Féile as one of the most important on the national calendar and so many of our great players have highlighted the Féile as providing some of their best experiences in the sport. Tyrone has a great tradition of GAA Handball and a terrific club structure with so many players coming through the ranks here in the county. Loughmacrory club here would be one of the few in the country which has 40×20, 60×30 and One Wall courts all fully active and that is a great achievement in itself.”
