Media reflect on successful Lough 1Wall Showdown Event
It has been a massive weekend for the handball and community in general in Loughmacrory and shortly we will bring you all a review of “What they Said” following the biggest tournament ever to be staged by the Club.
A total of 345 matches in total were played over the weekend as the newly launched facilities enjoyed in the Loughmacrory community hosted 248 players and in excess of 2,000 spectators to make the event a resounding success. What a climax there proved to be to the event also as the class of Wally Amaro and Irish National Champion, Conor McElduff, exhibited all the skills and speed of the game in front of 1,000 spectators.
Here is a brief list outline of some of the various stories throughout the media which featured the event as the club now reflects and thinks ahead to the new coaching and 40×20 season before preparations will begin in 2015 for instalment number 2.

Loughmacrory GAA Handball Club would like to thank all those who made this first ever Lough 1Wall Showdown Tournament such a special event and a resounding success. To Cumann Loch Mhic Ruairí Naomh Treasa GAA for terrific support and use of facilities over the weekend, to the LCDA for support and help in the build up to the event, to the many volunteers who gave so much of their time so selflessly – To the many people who refereed matches over the weekend (344 matches in all) and that includes so many from our neighbouring clubs also, the many lines officials, those on the Tournament Desk, the ladies who managed the Tournament Shop throughout the weekend, at the Burger Stand; those who gave so much help in preparing the courts pre Tournament; to Paula Donaghy in Revolution Fitness; to all those who made the Sunday Mass so special also and the fantastic music provided by our brilliant Choir; to Fr. Mallon who offered so much support in addition to presenting us with our own speaker system for the event; photographer Jim Dunne; the Tyrone GAA Handball Committee and the Ulster Handball Council for grant aid support for the event; Paula Clarke for her immense contribution on the tournament Desk and the 248 players who made our first Tournament the great success which it was. Thanks to Wally, Catriona, Killian, Conor, Sean, Mervan and all the other coaches who helped out at the Kids Coaching Camp to start the ‘ball rolling’ on Thursday evening. And finally to all the 2,000 odd spectators who flocked around all the courts from Friday through to Sunday night and ensured an amazing atmosphere throughout the Tournament and for our major finals – all despite the Octoberesque weather!!! We should also point out the terrific contribution made by our excellent committee who continue to work so well together in the promotion and development of our games in the community. Míle Buíochas to Everyone!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
We will be bringing an overall review in which players and visiting spectators will give their thoughts and reflections on the Tournament, together with full picture gallery for the weekend and there will be Picture gallery in next week’s papers.
