Loughmacrory Handball teams in All Ireland Féile this weekend

Loughmacrory Handball Club are preparing for an historic weekend of action on Saturday and Sunday. Firstly it will be a first ever for the club as we host the All Ireland Féile na nGael event at our 40×20 court. Then we will have the unique situation of having both a girls and boys team contest for All Ireland Féile na Gael honours in Loughmacrory and Carrickmore as we bid for glory in Division 1 and 2 respectively.

In Loughmacrory the Girls team of Aideen Curran, Michaela Curran, Caitlin Conway and Mairead Fox will begin their challenge for the Division 2 title with a match against Cullohill (Laois) at 10.00am and their second match will then be at 12pm when the girls play Downpatrick. The girls final match of the round will be at 2pm when they plany Annaghdown (Galway).

The Boys team of Antoin Fox, Dara Curran, Shane Grimes, Ronan Curran and Diarmaid Gallagher will compete for the Division 1 title in Carrickmore with their first of four matches on Saturday being against Monaghan Haprs at 11am. They will then meet neighbours, Carrickmore, at 1pm and then play again at 4pm against Cullohill (Laois) before finishing their round of games on Saturday with a match-up against Mallow (Cork).

The teams participated in the All Ireland Féile Parade already this evening at the Ahtletic Grounds in Armagh, with 4,000 young players who will compete across a series of divisions in the prestigious GAA Tournament in Ulster this weekend.

There is a major weekend of handball ahead with the All Ireland Féile na nGael in venues in Ulster – with Breacach, Carrickmore, Loughmacrory and Killyclogher all hosting a series of games in Tyrone. There is also the Danny O’Sullivan Memorial 60×30 Doubles tournament in Hospital HC, Limerick, while in the USA there is the final stages of the US National Championships. In Minesotta, Paul Brady has reached the Mens Open Singles final again where he will meet USA’s Emmett Peixoto, the action being streamed live on WPH Live for Free.
